Day 23: Carolina Tiger Rescue

The tiger shows off his good side

Today, the last day of my break away from school, was spent touring the Carolina Tiger Rescue center with Eric. Located near Raleigh, the center is a sanctuary for Binturongs, Caracals, Kinkajous, Ocelots, Servals, and Tigers. The site began with the efforts of Dr. Michael Bleyman, a geneticist who specialized in breeding and conserving key carnivore species and is responsible for many genetic management plans implemented today for the recovery of endangered species. Jellybean, a white tiger, may have been my favorite, but it’s hard to pick. I really loved the hat that this little girl was wearing, and tried to incorporate her into some of my pictures. I have dozens more pictures to go through and edit, but in the meantime I have to say that this is my favorite photo. I also would like to mention that I am now a member, and plan on returning before too long :)

Update: See more photos of the other animals, and read a bit about their stories in this post, Carolina Tiger Rescue
