Day 4: Playing with shutter speed

Four wine glasses, lit by a single candle

One of my favorite things to play with on my DSLR so far has been exposure and shutter speed. This was a lot of fun while hiking and capturing waterfalls over the weekend, but without a tripod I was a bit limited. At home, with the help of a table and some makeshift props, I was able to play with using a candle as my source of light. Lining up four wine glasses had a neat effect in the refraction of light and the reflection of the candle.  My favorite photo of the bunch, above, had a shutter speed of 5 seconds.
